Victorian Essential Learning Standards - VELS

Wildlife Conservation

Through first hand experience of natural environments, NRCL helps primary and secondary students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world around them, making this an ideal learning experience for groups at all levels.

The linked table (extracted from material produced by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, Australia, 2005) identifies opportunities for environmental learning within the Learning focus statements and Standards of VELS.

Please note that while the Learning focus statements and Standards for some Domains contain no direct references to environmental learning, nature and the environment readily provide themes and inspiration for research and creative projects in The Arts, English, and ICT.

Please let us know if you find this information helpful. Your comments and suggestions are also welcome.

Achievement of the Standards can be facilitated and reinforced by a visit to NRCL at Warburton. Always remember that we can vary a program, or create a new one, to meet the specific needs of your students. To discuss your requirements call our Education Officer on 5966 5822.
